If you are a lover of fine food (and maybe you sometimes refer to yourself as a foodie) then you know that artisan food is not the same as the food you might find in the supermarket.
So too with chocolate - artisan chocolate is very different to the mass produced chocolate you buy in the supermarket or the local convenience store. It's even different to the prestigious big name brands who have stand alone specialty stores where you can enjoy handmade bon bons and delicious hot chocolate.
At Rok Blox we tell you the story of the next-level flavours we combine with fine couverture every time we add a new product. But we haven't talked a great deal about the couverture itself.
What you might not know is chocolate is one of those products that is in process of emerging on the fair trade landscape. You've heard of fair trade coffee - increasingly you're going to hear more about fair trade chocolate.
Rok Blox has an ambition to be a social enterprise. Achieving that vision includes looking at our supply chain and ensuring the products we use to make Rok Blox are free from the insidious practices of modern slavery that permeate so many aspects of global industry today.
Over the coming weeks we will begin the arduous task of transitioning our base couverture to ones that have a clean supply chain. This won't be easy for us. It took a lot to develop our little range of artisan chocolates. But it's early enough in Rok Blox life for us to make the change, so we are starting now.
